Asura's Wrath is an Action, Beat 'em Up game developed by CyberConnect2 and published by Capcom in 2012 for the Xbox 360.
Once a revered deity, Asura was betrayed by his fellow gods and stripped of all his powers. Consumed by anger at the injustice he has suffered and swearing vengeance, Asura discovers he can use this fury to his advantage and turn it against his enemies. By channelling his inner rage, Asura is now able to unleash devastating attacks and wreak havoc as he battles against the deities who have wronged him and their earthly forces. Inspired by episodic dramas, Asura's Wrath will be split into distinct sections with gameplay and narrative unfolding as one and building to a final climatic conclusion.

Payback is hell.. that's why it's called Wrath.
OVERVIEW
You take on the role of Asura, one of the seven deities who are supposed to be in charge of looking after the world. Each of the deities powers are based off of one of the seven deadliest sins with Asura's being Wrath hence the title of the game. One day, the deities have decided they want to kill many innocent people that worship them to power up some source for their own gain but Asura is the only one who is having none of that. His wife is killed by one of the deities and his daughter is kidnapped as she holds the power to maintain the source. It is now up to Asura to get revenge on the other deities including his own brother-in-law, Yosho and rescue his daughter.
Graphics - B+
If you've played games like the Street Fighter 4 series and Okami, then you pretty much have a good idea of how the graphics look like as the same artist designed them for this game. The character modeling is very unique as it makes good use of 3-D modeling and the flames in some of the sequences really stand out. The best level design of them all is the final level (non-DLC) where the final battle takes place at the center of the earth which with a creature coming out of half of it is beyond logic since the whole world should've been dead from that but this is a videogame so no big deal here just like with gods being killed in the game but that's nothing new as Dragon Ball proved that immortality =/= invincibility (you can live forever but still be killed).
Gameplay/Controls - B+
There is a huge learning curve as far as the gameplay and controls are concerned. There are sequences during fights where it has you press a button while an outer circle shrinks and you try to sync it so both circles are overlapping each other fully. Other parts of the gameplay has you rapidly pressing a button to get the upper hand but in some battles it is futile by default. Regular and boss battle times vary a lot as you almost never know if you are on the verge of victory by fighting normally but if you gather up enough of your Burst Gauge, you can press R2/RT and it seems to almost always end the battle immediately in your favor.
Sound/Music - A
You get to hear a lot of classical music throughout the game including the fight against Augus which is Antonín Dvo?ák's New World Symphony - 4th Movement (most commonly recognized by hip hop fans as Sexual Harrassment's I Need A Freak). The other tracks in the game are worth a listen too. The sound effects are also spot on as you get to listen to a lot of punches, kicks, and grunts from the heat of battle.
Replay Value - A-

Asura's Wrath Meter

There is a lot to this game if you have the patience to go through a lot of cutscenes and QTE. The game encourages you to rack of enough points to get the S ranking. After a certain amount of S rankings, you get access to see the True Ending which to the naked eye shows you what looks to be a Sequel Hook but in reality, the story concludes by purchasing the remaining episodes on DLC which I took off a few points for. There are also two lost episodes not connected to the story that is worth buying the DLC as you get to take on Evil Ryu in one episode and Akuma in the other episode. It could only be fitting since Asura is so reminiscent of the latter. On a side note, if you had beat Street Fighter X Tekken with Ryu and Ken, I bet that this where Ryu ended up.
Overall - A
Aside from some parts of the game which seems to drag on, what's there not to like about this game? It gives you a chance to play minigames while you are fighting and it's a wonderful way to keep you on your toes because one wrong move can determine the difference of life and death.

Asura's wife has been murdered and his daughter kidnapped by the other deities. It is up to you and eventually your brother-in-law who is a fellow deity who is your enemy at first but joins your side to defeat the other deities and save your daughter. Bear in mind, that once you beat the game, that is not the end of the story. You have to the download the rest of the episode to find out how everything ends.
